standalone gallery as a portfolio

I want to use coppermine as a portfolio site as I've used it for a community site and liked the way it works.

How easy is it to totally lock it down so only I can add pictures etc with no clue that users are able to upload images or comments?

Is coppermine the best solution for this, or is it overkill?

Very easy... turn off user registration and disallow any groups except the group you belong to to post pictures...
