I dont want users to create albums under category. i would like it when they upload their picture it goes to the specify directory they choose. Ex, its a macro pic,, they click on macro when they up load and it goes their automatically. Is that possible? I also want all users to have their own user gallery. so the picture they upload to also goes to theor gallery. any suggestions please.

2. when I go to upload image, i dont get the whole category listing in the drop down menu. I dont want to create new albums for each picture

Yes, allow then to upload to public galleries in coppermine's group control panel, then go to the individual album's properties and set "visitors can upload" to yes there. Please read the documentation, this is explained there

Then allow them to have a personal gallery as well. However, pics won't reside both in public and personal albums at the same time, the user has to choose. Again: RTFM.

You don't have to. The dropdown displays the albums a user can upload to, not the categories. Surprisingly: this is covered in the documentation as well.

In the future, respect the "one question per thread" policy you agreed to when signing up. You agreed there as well to only post questions after having read the documentation. At least do so now.
