Error return Value 126 with ImageMagick
« on: January 24, 2004, 11:11:38 pm »

When trying to upload a picture I'm getting the error message:
=============================
Error executing ImageMagick - Return value: 126
Cmd line :
/home/shamir/ImageMagick/ImageMagick-5.5.7/bin/convert -quality 80 -antialias -geometry 76x100 'albums/userpics/10001/dog_20shoes_1.jpg' 'albums/userpics/10001/thumb_dog_20shoes_1.jpg'

The convert program said:
sh: /home/shamir/ImageMagick/ImageMagick-5.5.7/bin/convert: cannot execute binary file

file: /home/shamir/public_html/Gallery/db_input.php - line: 289
=============================
I searched the board and tried all the tips on how to solve this problem but no luck.
I've loaded a binary image magick to my directory since it is not available at my host. The hosting is on Linux server. All the files are in 755 mode.

Anyone got an idea?

Although I've heard a few people say you can upload the binaries yourself and get ImageMagick to work, all documents I've read state you must have your host install ImageMagick for you.

If you've tried the various tips here and on ImageMagick specific forums and haven't had any luck, I don't think you'll get it working.

You can always use GD 1.xx/2.xx for your image manipulation.

Have you asked your host to install ImageMagick?  Most hosts are pretty accomodating and will do it.

I wish my hosting would agree to do that but it is hopeless

I guess it is not allowed to run binary files directly from my account directiry (something called JailShell).
Maybe I'll switched to a different hosting if I'll have no luck since they don't have GD installed as well.

Without GD or ImageMagick, Coppermine won't run.  Definitely time to find a new host.  Check out Web Hosting Ratings for a list of good hosts.
