No user gallery thumbnail allowed?

I searched the forums for a solution to this issue until I read that the option for a 'custom' thumbnail for User galleries doesn't exist in CPG...is there a solution or a fix for this? My home page looks 'disjointed' because there's no thumbnail next to the User gallery title/description...I'd really like to implement this, if possible. Thanks.
