Installing Banners?
« on: June 07, 2006, 08:06:50 am »

Hi Guys… I'm glad to have found this forum finally. So let's get straight to the point with the correct process, before I screw it up big time. To make a banner, first, I have to get an html editor program to be able to create it, like Macromedia Dreamweaver. Then comes the uncertainty for me:  What is the difference between adding a banner to a home page vs. adding a banner to Coppermine® by incorporating the banner image and the link into the custom theme?

If you just want to replace the Coppermine logo in the default page with your logo (or banner), you can create a custom theme by copying one of the pre-made ones that looks most like the one you want, then modify themes/yourtheme/template.html with a text editor to replace the image link with your image link.  You need to know some HTML to do so.  Editing template.html with Dreamweaver is not recommended because unless you know exactly what you are doing (and setup Dreamweaver to do so), Dreamweaver might add extra tags in there that Coppermine won't need and might even not like.
