Lost everything in my gallery.
« on: June 01, 2006, 05:22:43 am »

I was trying to make a category but it would not show the whole list so I went to upgrade it and I lost everything. I am really upset about this. I had TONS of pictures in my gallery and everything is gone. I was wondering if there was anyway I can restore this.

Please do not send me an unsolicited private message.  I understand that you are upset, but that's no reason to bypass the public forum and send a private message - that's not how support on this community works.

I don't understand why you upgraded to version 1.4.4.  The current version is 1.4.6.

Have you checked your photos in the albums folder?  Upgrading improperly may not point things to the correct folder, but it will not delete photos, unless you delete them yourself manually.

This is one reason why it's important to backup your files & database regularly, and before upgrades if you don't have a recent backup already done.

So check for your photos using FTP or a webhost file manager.

It didn't when I first looked.  It does look fine now.

Although it's still 1.4.4 . . .

I tried something as a test and i had to delete some  4 categories for it to show the make new category i find this very strange Because i need these categories and if i want to make a new one i have to delte some old ones first. I hope we can fix this category issue so dont have to do this.

I don't understand what the problem is.  Looking at the image, I would guess a theme problem, but I'm not really sure what I'm looking at.

Are you using the default hardwired theme from 1.4.6?  You can try the classic theme and the category manager and see if the problem still exists.  You can set the theme for just you the user by using "?theme=classic" in the URL (then clear your cookie afterwards to return to the default theme).

does not matter if i go over a certian amout of cateegories it starts screwing up like in the image not allowing the b ottom half show correwctly.  Like i said i had to delete a few categories so the bottom pat would show so i could add the discription to the category i wanted.

How many categories do you have (in total, including subcategories)?

Do you have any mods or plugins installed?

And, to be clear, are you saying that the problem still exists with the (default un-modded) classic theme?

i have like 30 categories including the subs  yes an the classic unmoded look does the same. and i have no hacks that would effect it because it deals with the upload.
