404 Config.php
« on: January 05, 2004, 04:54:01 pm »

Just installed the script, seemed to go fine up to "go to the Config page and start to configure your gallery"

When I click on Config, I get a 404 -not Found error.  I know the file config.php is present, as I can view it with my FTP program, and I re-uploaded it just to be sure.
The permissions are all set to 777, and none of the other pages return any errors of this sort.

The log in seems fine, and I am in "admin mode"

Any ideas?

Just a shot in the dark - rename config.php to something else and try accessing that file

All of the other features seem to work.  I've uploaded pictures one at a time, and several using the "batch mode"  I've created alblums and catagories, and a new user.  The installation gave no errors, and viewing the photos seems fine.

what Tarique was hinting on: on some servers, you're not allowed to use the filename config.XXX - therefor he suggested to rename the file http://s93087421.onlinehome.us/config.php to http://s93087421.onlinehome.us/change_stuff.php on your hard drive and upload it to your webserver. Then log in as admin, switch to admin mode and afterwards browse http://s93087421.onlinehome.us/change_stuff.php in your browser. Did you do that, and what were the results? There's no harm if you leave the file in place for us to take a look -  without being logged in (i.e. knowing your admin username and password) nobody can hack your site - no need to be afraid.

Ok,  as I said above I DID try that..the first time I just renamed it on the server via FTP to config2.php.  It gave me the same result.

This time, however, I changed it locally to "other.php" and then uploaded it.  It seems to work.  Thanks.

I too have this problem.  Any further suggestions for this problem?  I get a 404 each time.  I've renamed and reloaded.  Neither resolved the issue.

Of course here is the address, sorry I didn't post it earlier

http://www.dtegallery.com

If any of you need access just let me know and I'll give you the test account.  Right now there is nothing there other than this install.  If I read the domain correctly the previous poster is using the same host, that being 1and1.com

I've tried the same as mentioned above with no luck.

Ok My bad I changed the file name to config2  if the name is config at all it won't work.  Very strange of the host.  Problem is solved but could someone explain this to me at all.  why does the host block this?  Obviously it is quite a pain.
