thumbnail caption on one line

Hello,

I would like to have the captions of thumbnails, while in gallery thumbnail view to be on one line as opposed to two. how can I do that?

IMAGE
x views / x comments (when applicable)

and

IMAGE
x views (when there are no comments)

instead of

IMAGE
x views
x comments

Im sorry I have a feeling that this is posted in the wrong place. Should this be under themes? If so, can someone move it? thanks. I would also like to find an answer to the question. thanks in advance!
