IPB 1.3 Integration
« on: December 27, 2003, 02:30:24 am »

Has anyone integrated with 1.3 IPB? I see the readme mentions 1.1 IPB.  Will it work with 1.3 ok?

Thanks!

Yes, I have Vituanews 1.0.3, Coppermine 1.2.1, and IPB 1.3 running fine on a development site.

Coppermine and Virtuanews both share IPB's users.

Can you intergrate even if you already have users on IPB? Or would you have to do both with a fresh install?

You can integrate if there are already users.  However, if you already had the gallery installed on a seperate database from the forums and have had members register and upload pics, I believe those are all lost if you integrate.

There is a mod out there that uses your Invision skin with Coppermine.  It's pretty neat actually.  If you have multiple skin choices, Coppermine changes to fit the style.  It can be found at ibplanet.com

If you are new to these things..   Well, even if you're not new to these I recommend backing up your database before doing anything to your site.

That way if you screw up, you can always resort to before you modified the scripts.  ;)

Yeah I am going to test it out on another server and see what happens with a fresh install of both. *nods* Then I will try the intergrating the ones already running. Maybe? I am still thinking about it. But backing up is a good idea. :)

1.2.1 is the latest stable release.  I wouldn't use 1.3 beta unless you are very experienced with CPG.

Also, support is only available for 1.2.1 as of right now. :)

I went back and am using the odler version 1.2.1 I believe. And yep. It worked fine on my tester server. So I might try it with my other accounts. Thanks for the help, or whatever hehehe :)

Actually, I didn't know if/how the integration worked for Invision cause I've only used it on vBulletin..

But I just had a go at it and got it done in less than an hour ( I had to transfer 600+ images, so it took a while)

Hi Xbleed,

OT
I have a question for ya.  How you doing on bandwidth for your gallery? I am starting a graphics forum and want to offer the ability of Coppermine to my members. But the bandwidth question is a "real" issue with me.

Just trying to get some sort of handle on it.

Thanks

hi Xbleed,
I just went to see on your site the integration of coppermine.and I have few questions maybe you could help
I made the installation and also edited in "Bridge" the invisionboard.inc.php .Everything is working fine ,except that I don't see any integration!
did you made the link in the user bar yourself? and for the members how do this integration work?
I don't see any difference just like if it is working standalone way!
did I missed something?because from my forum or my portal(the same as your's)I must call it like this "......../coppermine/index.php"
I you can help?

Pepito,

Yes, I did put the member bar there myself in the theme.html.

There is a hack on ibplanet.com called "Coppermine goes invision" that uses Invisions wrapper/templates for coppermine and it seems to work pretty well.  I just decided not to go that route with this as I think it's easier just to edit the theme.html

But if your forum has multiple styles, I suggest using the hack at ibplanet cause the gallery will also match the style of forum your member uses. :)
