Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or T_NUM_STRING in /home/u4/darkside/hotspotpics.com/html/photos/install.php on line 422

That's the message I get when I try to access the install.php file after upload.  My web host tech support said it's an error in the script itself.  Who can help me with this?

Sounds like a bad install file.  Where did you get your Coppermine?  If not from here, please download 1.4.3 from the Downloads link above and install it.

Also make sure to upload in ASCII mode and not binary.
