Permissions on XP with Apache
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:22:07 am »

My webhost won't be Windows, but at home I'm trying to install CPG under XPProf/Apache1.3/PHP5. My first problem is that I can't change folder permissions (album and include). It doesn't show the tab SECURITY under properties, because I don't have IIS, so when I uncheck the box Read-only (rigth click, properties), the OS checks it back again by itself. I wish I could install and configure CPG under both systems.

Folder permissions shouldn't matter at all for you.  If the Coppermine folder is where it should be, and you log in with the same user that installed Apache, then you'll have all the read/write permission you'll need.  I never have any problems on my test box.  If you can't set permissions, then you need to disable simple file sharing (which shouldn't even be on in XP Pro.)

If you are using PHP5, you should not be using Apache 1.3.x - you should use 2.x.  You also need MySQL.
