please tell me why dont you ever include install instructions for windows users
why would a windows user know what chmod is all about
you appear to assume that the world revolves around linux, not so i'm afraid

good rant, I'm looking forward to seing you as a contributor and maintainer of the docs in various formats ::). If you should choose not to volunteer for this job, then I suggest you review your attitude.
Imo, someone who's running a server of his own should be able to go through all available docs before asking questions like yours. Final recommendation: get a real OS that is capable of running a webserver, not some desktop playtoy.

Hey... I run Windows.... it works great!  ;D  Of course, I'd never use it as a webserver.

hehe, don't worry - I run Windows as well, and I'm happy that all those issues exist with it - this way, I'm able to make a living. I even run a Windows/IIS webserver on the company's intranet (don't laugh at me, it wasn't my decision - I was young and needed the money ;D), that's why I'm dead sure that it isn't an actual operating system ;)

My main computer at work is a Linux machine and I would often prefer/miss Windows, but I also wouldn't use Windows as a public web server.

Hey, if you want better Windows support, you need better representation on the dev team. Everyone here is a volunteer and uses what's at their disposal. It just so happens a lot of dev team members use Linux web servers.
