I've just upgraded from 1.3.4 to 1.4.3 and now there's no Config link in my Admin Bar Menu. I haven't updated my templates yet - could this be why there is no Config link?

Yes, you need to update. Until then, you can use one of the included themes, or go directly to admin.php
