Upgraded and some photos old pics show broken image?

I upgraded from 1.3.2 to 1.4.3 and everything is quite ok, but some photos show broken image on page. Does anybody know what this could be fixed?

Regenerate the intermediate pics using admin tools.

I think that was not a good idea as now all pics have the broken image shown...

Any idea how to fix that?

I get this when try to generate thumbs:

The new pics seem to be okay, but the thumbnails aren't being created so they get 404s. So the issue seems to be in the thumbnail generation.

I cannot upload new pics. There is a broken image in the upload process and then this info "The previous file could not be placed.
You have successfully placed all the files." but no new picture was added.

I also get a

SOLVED :-)

I changed from ImageMagick to GD - that was the problem...
