Hi,

Is it possible to just upload images to the main coppermine page rather than using albums and categories etc?

If so how?

no, only albums can hold pics/files, so you'll need at least one album in the root category (no category at all). However, you could redirect your users to always go to the one particular album only whenever they visit your page.
