Copper mine file system usage
« on: November 10, 2005, 10:25:28 pm »

My hosting company is having problems with files located in my /images/albums/userpics directory. After using copper mine for a while now I have over 1000 files in that directory. My hosting company wants me to reduce the number of files in that directory because it is affecting their system performance. Any suggestions on how to organize these files into folders?

Do you have silly_safe_mode enabled ? Check include/config.inc.php if unsure. Also this can happen if you allow anonymous uploads.

Safe mode is definately off. I have been uploading images through the web based interface all this time and over time I have accumilated alot of files. I need a way of organizing these files into folders without breaking the database. Is this possible? I'm going to start using bulk upload but is there any way to fix what has been already done?

It's doable, but I don't know of any script that can do this currently for 1.3
