tumbnail problems

for some reason all my thumbnails are really bad quality but if u click on the photo they look fine....

eg:

im not sure what version of mysql i am using but i know my version of php is quite recient as i ask my admin to update it.

hope some1 can help.

What method are you using to resize the images?
If it is ImageMagick, ask your host to update it to latest version or try switching to GD if it is installed.

That's fine. But Batch upload uses the resizing method which you have specified in CPG config settings.
Check value of Method for resizing images in config.

GD v1.x

but it also gives me the options of v2.x and image magik.. does this mean they are installed or?

No, that doesn't mean that they are installed. You will  either have to ask your web host for this or try changing the method yourself. For ImageMagick you will have to provide the path for the binary. But for now try changing the method to GD2 and see whether it generates proper thumbnails.
