Batch Upload?

I was browsing the forum and I saw someone say that the upload on the coppermine page is for users, and that the admin should use the batch upload mode through their FTP... how do I do that? I went under my FTP, but I couldn't find my albums or anything. Could someone please explain it to me? Thanks!
