I've a little problem. I can't upload any more pictures.

As far as I understand, the folder albums/edit has not enough permission. But always when I try to give the full permission (777) to the folder it fails.
226 Quotas off
    SITE CHMOD 777 edit
550 edit: Operation not permitted

Does anybody know why?

Either request the directory to be CHOWNed to you by your server admin or rename edit to something else and create a new folder named edit. Either way you need to update your gallery to avoid suffering from bugs in old versions of the software.
