Permissions problem on batch add

I uploaded a folder structure within albums:
online/
before/
   [pics here]

When batch adding, I cannot insert them into any album, however, as it says that it cannot write to the folder. However, each of those folders has 775 permissions (I am not going to 777). What else can I do?

nothing - why not change to 777?
