Picture resize and image quality

I'd like to change the picture size of the thumbnails and intermediate pictures but wanted to know for sure if the rebuilt pictures will be "made from" the full quality one (not the actual thumbs and intermediate), old/actual thumbs and intermediate versions therefore being deleted...

Sorry if this has been discussed, couldn't find it.

yes, of course... imagine your old thumb size was 60x80 and you rebuild 120x100 from that source?? Same for intermediate
