PHPBB to vBulletin bridge
« on: September 19, 2005, 04:01:27 am »

Ok, I have PHPBB and its intergrated into the gallery.  I am upgrading soon to vBulletin.  My members have a gallerys already.  When I change the bridge file, will it be the same with vBulletin? Like there links, files and everything? If not, is there a way to make it all the same, just that there mysql info or somethign is changed? Thanks so much!

If the user ids are unchanged during the conversion then everything will be fine. If not then pics will apear to change ownership. Please search the board for previous answers about board conversions.

we don't know phpbb nor vbulletin - we're only coppermine experts. Why don't you just try to find out (backup your stuff before doing so - you can savely go back then if it fails).

I knwo you dont know PHBB or vBulletin.  Thats why I came here for the answer.  I understand how it works, just is there a manual way to change the "ownership" of the files in Coppermine? Thanks!

The ownership details are in the database - the owner_id and owner_name fields in the pictures table.

Ok, each userID is +1 from the old board to new vBulletin board.  So I should go in and edit each user in the database and add one.  Now when a new member from vBulletin makes an album it will relate to tehre userid, correct? So once I edit the original users, I wont have to do it again?

Thanks much!

Where do I edit the user ids? Do I have to change EACH picture? Please let me know, I got it all working, just all the users ids are plus one.  So someone else has my gallery and so on.  Please help!

either do it manually (using phpMyAdmin or similar) or come up with a small script that does the queries for you.

Any help with this? I dont know exactly what to edit.  I have phpmyadmin and I am able to see the database and browse it.  But I am unsure of what to edit.

There are howtos and scripts that deal with db conversion. If you search for them on the mods board you'll get a rough idea what to look for and how to change it.

And you should ask the Vbulletin guys how to avoid and ID change when porting. That's the easiest way

Can someone help me out with a link or something. All I need to do is change the IDs.  Maybe I should just start from scratch on the members database.  If I choose to do that, how do I go about deleting that data?

have a look at the mysql tables. You'll find IDs in nearly every one. Therefore I suggested asking Vbulletin support (and don't you have priority support there when you purchease the package) if it isn't possible to avoid the change in users IDs

edit.. to delete the entire data easiest is when you just reinstall using the same path and mysql db. You'll have to delete 'install.lock' before (it's in the include dir)

vBulletin has nothign to do with this.  The ownership of the gallerys have changed when I moved to vBulletin.  I need to change the user ownerships in Cooppermine.

I have giving up on this basically.  Because no one can help me and your search function is virtually useless.  Brings up so many friggin posts.

I will search for how erase the members gallerys.  basically deleting what ever was added with a bridge.  I dont want anything deleted in my main albums.  That would take too long and too much uploading to fix. Thanks
