CPG 133 Gallery Moved to a new server ...
« on: October 04, 2005, 08:21:19 pm »

Greetings all ...

The ISP that was hosting our website before decided to move to a new server ... and didn't notify us ...

Now .. when we go the gallery page we get nothing ...

If I try to go to the config page at www.martinmusicgroup.com/cpg133/config.php it gives an error saying it can't connect to the Database and spits out an error with the old IP in it ....

I went into the MySQL Admin on the new server and opened up the "config" db and had a look and the ecards_more_pic_target item because it seems to be about the only item in the list of parameters that refers to either a domain name or an IP address specifically ...

It has "http://www.martinmusicgroup.com/cpg133/" there ... so it's not even point to an IP address ...

So my question is ... where would I go to see where this old IP address is embedded somewhere ... so I can point it to it's new home ...

Thanks in advance .. I did as much homework as I could before posting this message ....

Thank you very much for the quick reply ....

That's exactly what it was ... it had an IP address hard coded in there... I just replaced it first with the IP of the new server and it worked like a charm ...

I then tested it again with just the domain name in there instead of the hard coded IP and that also worked well ...

I assume it's OK to leave the domain name in there so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.....

Have a wonderful day and thanks again for the help!

Domain name is fine, localhost is even better.

Thank you again ...

I tried putting in localhost but for some reason it spit out an error that looked like this ...

Notice: Undefined index: debug_mode in /home/martinmu/martinmusicgroup-www/cpg133/include/functions.inc.php on line 96
Fatal error :
There was an error while processing a database query

I have switched it back, temporarily, to the domain name and it's working like a charm...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated...

probably you're on a shared server and therefore your host has setup your mysql account to work together only with your domain name and not with the global localhost. You couldn't access the db and got a the mysql error.

To get rid off the notice turn off notices in config

That's great ...no problem ...

I will just leave the domain name in there and be done with it ...

Case Closed ... thanks for all the help!
