Preventing strangers from registering
« on: September 18, 2005, 07:07:39 pm »

I have recently installed Coppermine on my site. Some friends and I are uploading our personal party pictures. I've already modified the code so that only registered users can see the photos, but anyone can still register.
So, I had this idea of a code word that you have to enter in a field when you register, and if the code word is wrong, the register process won't finish. There will just be one code word, the same for everyone, which I will give to the people I want to have access to the photos.
Is there any easy way to do this?

(I am terribly sorry if this question has been asked before. I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything.)

Why go to all that trouble?  Just don't allow people to register.  Simply make the accounts for your users and tell them the username and password.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but here is one solution: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=12216.0
