Question about upgrading to 1.3.4
« on: September 15, 2005, 09:17:21 am »

According to the online documentation for Coppermine, when I upgrade from version 1.2.0 or higher to 1.3.3, I need to avoid overwriting the include/config.inc.php file, the anycontent.php file or the albums directory.  However, it appears as though I don’t need to avoid overwriting include/config.inc.php or anycontent.php when I’m upgrading to version 1.3.3 from 1.0 or 1.1.

The question I have is, which of these instructions are applicable to upgrading from 1.3.3 to 1.3.4?  I don’t see anything in the online documentation that addresses this issue.

My apologies if someone has asked this question already, but I looked for it and couldn’t find it.

It's the same instructions. In the docs, it says "Upgrading from cpg1.2.0 (or better) to version cpg1.3.4".

1.3.3 is "(or better)"

Did it really say 1.3.4 before?  It's hard for me to believe I missed that.

Well, I have just one other question about this for now:  I’ve changed the permissions on some of the folders in the Coppermine gallery to make them no longer writeable, since I was told that this could be a potential security risk.  Do I need to make them writeable again before I can update the files in them?

In general I’d assume that would be the case for something like this, but I don’t know whether there’s another way of doing this that I’m not thinking of.
