batch upload problem - might help someone
« on: August 25, 2005, 02:41:38 am »

First of all, thanks so much Coppermine Dev Team for such a fantastic program. It has already made my life much easier!

Now...
I'm using version 1.3.4 and have been very very very frustrated by a very simple little problem. I don't think it's a problem with the program, just with my method of batch uploading. I wanted to post this in order to save others from days of banging their heads off tables. If it's too obvious an issue then feel free to bring the axe down swiftly upon my head.

BATCH UPLOADING
---------------------------
I can't see if this has been pointed out clearly in the documentation, but I don't think it has.

If I ...

1. Upload a folder of images into the ALBUMS directory via FTP.
2. "batch add files".
3. select all files in the folder I've added.

THEN...
The little "result" gifs on the right hand side of the page show as OK.
But when viewing the galleries NONE of these thumbnails are working and show up as broken image links.
The actual full size images are present and working if I click through
(incidentally the thumbnails are being created and if I ftp them back to my computer I can view them
but I'm not allowed to view them on the server - unlike the full size images. I can view them via their real address).

HOWEVER... If I

1. Create a folder of images in the ALBUMS directory (on my FTP program).
2. Upload a folder of images into the ALBUMS directory via FTP.
3. Drag and drop images into the folder that I created in ALBUMS
4. "batch add files".
5. select all files in the folder I've added.

Then
The little "result" gifs on the right hand side of the page show as BROKEN IMAGES.
BUT the galleries are perfect - thumbnails and all!

Hope that saves someone!
Thanks again for the program.
Tadhg
