[solved] module self deactivation
« on: November 28, 2003, 06:20:11 pm »

Hi, I have searched and searched. I also had this prob with a mod called auktion and one other one. I did have MeG running then my host deactivated one page due to a security hole and that mod is not being worked on anymore. So I got rid of it and decided to try coppermine. I like it however, it deactivates on its own.

When I went to bed last night it was working and visitors can see it on the menu (it says Photo E-Gallery for the title). Then I come down here this morning and it is deactivated. I go to modules and activate it again. Right now it is working. I went to mysql and it is listed in the modules table with a 1 like this
coppermine Photo E-Gallery 1 0 1 1

now I can go back here in about an hour or two and it will be deactivated. Doe anyone know why a module would deactivate on its own and is there a fix

I have added my username dbname etc. in that config inc file and I have the permissions it told me to do. Please help with this odd problem. I need a working gallery badly.
thanks to anyone who read this
Joe

hello again, well since rc4 is up I downloaded it and tried to install it. I did the install.php and it only gave me 4 green lights. Nothing worked right. So deleted the tables and did it again. That worked except for the table CPG_votes which was made with caps CPG. So I went to the sql files and found the one that had cpg_votes and manually put that one in. It worked.

Now I activated and everything and tried to batch install pix. It gives me the list of directories then when I click on the dir it goes back the page before that, the admin page.

This all has got to be in the code of cpg since the MeG I had worked and the 1.1 cpg worked as far as batch photos. But I still have the "self deactivation" problem. I went away for 2 hours and it was deactivated again and changed in mysql. It even changes from the title I gave it back to "coppermine". and from activated to deactivated.

please someone has to know why this happens????
thanks

hmmmm

URL ?
phpNuke version ?

CPG_votes doesn't exist anywhere in RC4 (only cpg_votes)
upgrade from 1.1D to 1.2 RC4 should always work without problems and should have 31 green lights.
When upgrading don't use the .sql files (it's mentioned anywhere in Installation-english.txt so why did you do it ?)

Hi, I did it because the upgrade did not work and did not add those extra tables that were not there.  When I deleted the tables and started over, it did have 30+ green lights and it works but I still can not add batch photos like I did before. I had 16 albums and 250+ pictures working with 1.1 The only problem with 1.1 is that it would deactivate. Now I can not even make albums with the photos that are already there (and were used successfully with 1.1)

It is 4:41 pm eatern time and at this moment I have activated and it is showing on the left menu. How long that will last I do not know. I just ran to the store and when I got back it was deactivated

I understand quite a bit about all of this but not why some mods work and some turn off by themselves. I have ran across 3 so far including cpg

My url is championshipbelts.com which I did not post earlier and am on nuke6.9

I appreciate the help because it has to be somewhere in the cpg code. I have plenty of other modules that work.

I doubt you have a cpg problem, since you've had this happen to two other modules.  Coppermine doesn't have any code that would change entries in the nuke_modules table.  It sounds like someone is making changes to your tables.  Have you told your host about this problem?  Perhaps they can keep an eye on your mysql db to see what's going on.

somehow I knew I would be told it is not in the cpg code. And when I talk to the host they say it is. There are 2 mods that do this. I have many that don't. Many more that work perfectly fine including oscommerce (working fine as a module) as well as My E gallery which was working fine. Now isn't more likely that the 2 mods have something odd in the code? Isn't that how you go from 1.1 to 1.2 due to bugs? couldn't some tidbit of code be common between the cpg and the auktion module that is doing this? I don't mean to be anything other than tyring to get a solution (not rude) but when it is 2 against 30+ it seems I would guess the 2 have a problem. With 1.1 I had to go to a certain file and change [cgp] to ['cgp'] or something like that. couldn't this be the same thing? I would look myself but I don't know where to start.

I noticed this was not addressed. The batch add does not work that I mentioned above. Is this working for other people?

If you are having problems with batchadd for 1.2 that is a seperate issue from your module activating and deactivating and please start a new topic in the 1.2 forum. Are you using unix or windows for your server? what is the name of your 1.2 module? is the same as another with different capitalization? If you are using Coppermine for the folder name try changing to coppermine. Very strange behavior, did you do a search on www.nukecops.com to see if anyone else has had this problem with module deactivation?

Hi, I tried what was posted in that nukecops message. So far the module has been activated for an hour and I will see if it lasts. It usually has not lasted for an hour so I hope this is a good sign. Thank you. I think I did not find it since I searched for "deactivation" and no one really mentioned that in that post.
I will ask the other question about batch add pictures in the other forum since it is still not working. I did install the standalone 1.2 in about 5 minutes and it works fine
thanks again for the link to that post and I am crossing my fingers :D

Hi, That did it. It has been over 3 hours and it has not been deactivated. Thanks again. and for anyone who needs it and in case that link above is dead.......it was just one little zero with quotes missing

Open your admin/modules/modules.php

Find

Code: [Select]
sql_query("insert into ".$prefix."_modules values (NULL, '$modlist[$i]', '$modlist[$i]', '0', '0', '1')", $dbi);

Change that to:
Code: [Select]

sql_query("insert into ".$prefix."_modules values (NULL, '$modlist[$i]', '$modlist[$i]', '0', '0', '1', '0')", $dbi);

Well it didn't work. I was working on the css file and then all of the sudden the module was deactivated. I redid it and then about 40 minutes later  it happened again. This is really driving me nuts.

Also there are 3-4 of each thumbnail in each album.

I have went back to 1.1 since 1.2 did not work.

My host says "ask the author of the modules"

I have activated both coppermine and the auction mod and will see if both deactivate.

I check the file mentioned above and it still has the extra '0' in it.

I need ideas anyone?

Look in your nuke_modules table... do any of the modules have the same value in the mid column?

Have you read this thread in NukeCops?

Hi, I looked at all of these other posts and that is the same thing. I don't know why know one that knows about nuke can figure this out.

Here is what I just tried....and it failed.
I deleted some of the modules that I do not use like avant go.
The I re-numbered the modules that were 3 digits to 1 or 2
I named coppermine 1 since I deleted 1
it works for a few as before then bam.....gone
and this time it was really gone from the table, it was not even still listed in the database
I reactivated and it lasted for a few mintues and was gone

I went to the module panel and reactivated and it shows up now and it and another mod are numbered 868 and 871

none of these "fixes" fix anything, it just changes the time that the module stays on.

I have 2 questions if anycan answer? If it is nuke, then why does my OSC module work all the time?And some others work all the time. I only have trouble with certain ones not all.

second is....until this is fixed , what would the link be to make it a hard link? This

Code: [Select]
http://www.championshipbelts.com/modules.php?name=coppermine

will only work when it is activated not when it is deactivated. Then at least I can make a big button that people can click on to see the pictures?

thanks

I've watched this topic carefully and was viewing what causes the deletion:

block-Modules.php is where the problem is.

This is the only file that deletes entries from the modules list when it's not found.
Code snippet
Code: [Select]
/* If the module doesn't exist, it will be removed from the database automaticaly */

$sql = "SELECT title FROM ".$prefix."_modules";
$result = $db->sql_query($sql);
while ($row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result)) {
    $title = $row[title];
    $a = 0;
    $handle=opendir('modules');
    while ($file = readdir($handle)) {
        if ($file == $title) {
            $a = 1;
        }
    }
    closedir($handle);
    if ($a == 0) {
        $db->sql_query("DELETE FROM ".$prefix."_modules WHERE title='$title'");
    }
}

So probably the directory isn't found.
Also modules only get deactivated by admin pages or a code injection.

Check your "server history" what pages people where viewing in the time a module was deactivated or removed.
