Upgrading question..!
« on: July 09, 2005, 12:36:45 am »

Hi again!  ;)

I was just wondering how to install / upgrade the new version over 3.3 ? I of course read through manual and found these text:

# Except for the "albums" directory, upload all of the new files and directories making sure not to overwrite the include/config.inc.php file, your anycontent.php file or the albums directory.

Now, I have made quite a bit of modifications to many of the php pages on my site (like I edited out ares of the image description, I removed file ratings, etc.) and countless many small asthetic changes to other pages..if I overwrite all but the config.inc.php, anycontent.php or album directory like above - then I will loose all my changes!  :o

Is it possible to one upgrade without loosing all these small mods  ???

Thanks!!  :-*

You can use WinMerge to compare the folders containing the modded and default files of the same (1.3x) version. It will show you the files which are different, and you can go into them to compare differences. You can then see which files were modded and where, and try reapplying the mods to the 1.4 files. However, you should see if the mods are already incorporated in 1.4, or if there is a 1.4 version of the mod lest it is incompatible with 1.4.
