util.php crashes mysql

when i run the admin tool, (util.php) I can watch my mysql process go up to about 96% and then mysql is hung.  I have to restart it.  I tried to use the debug mode but I get an error message. 

Line 840 themes/default/theme.php microtime function not found.

I have over 100 ablums on my system.

running Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.3.2 with the latest security patch.

I'm running vbulletin with bridge 1.7 2004/09/11 21:21:13 nibbler999.

I did configure and upload brige 1.8 but I couldn't log in.
