Making the upload process easier...
« on: April 14, 2005, 04:13:05 pm »

Is there anyway, other than winxp publish, that can make the upload process easier for the end-user ? LIke maybe more than 10 upload fields, then figuring out a way to maybe autoselect one album that all the pics are going in. How about batch add for users ? Not just admins.

I'm a newbie but I'd been using Flickr and uploading via the .NET framework and XP publish to web and just loved it so I searched for a way to do this with Coppermine. I found a guy that said he had a registry add-in that was similar to the one I was familiar with when using Flickr. I added it in, but it balked saying something was not in binary. So I found the one I used for Flickr, opened it up, edited to suit my current setup and added it and it works like a charm. Here's the code and the filename is simply Coppermine.reg. You could open up a text document put this in it and then save it as .reg, if I remember right that's how I did it.

Code: [Select]
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\PublishingWizard\PublishingWizard\Providers\Copppermine]
"Icon"="http://www.XXXyourwebsite'sFaviconXXX/favicon.ico"
"DisplayName"="Your Gallery"
"Description"="All my photos"
"HREF"="http://www.XXXyourwebisteXXX/coppermine/xp_publish.php?cmd=publish"

Now admittedly I shoe-horned this a bit but it works for me. Maybe it won't for you. Maybe it'll need a little extra tweaking, I don't know. But this works brilliantly. I uploaded 25 pictures in a batch, had them re-sized from their original to 1024X768 and it was all done and up there in maybe 5-7 minutes. I chose one initial album for them to go into then logged in and moved them where I wanted.

Maybe that'll help.

Yeh I investigated that actually. I love the winxp publisher mod/hack. It's awesome. THe perfect tool I was looking for. Anyone know if there is any such tool for other OS's ? Namely Windows Me, 98 and OS X ?

I've tried this but when I try to upload pics an error "The wizard could not connect to the internet, or the web service returned a wizard page that is not valid" I deffinently have inter net connection so what does this error mean and how do I fix it ? My Coppermine is incorperated into phpNuke, would this be the problem ? There wasn't a xp_publish.php file in the coppermine directory so I copy and pasted it from another, were there other files that it needed I didn't copy maybe ? This is the info on the bottom of the Coppermine page "Powered by Coppermine Photo Gallery v1.3.0-Nuke for phpNuke and postNuke by Coppermine Nuke Dev Team"

Thanks in advance for any help or dirction  :)

using the xp_publisher (which was designed for standalone coppermine) with the nuke port (which goes unsupported) is just wishfull thinking. Those versions completely differ, you can't exchange files between them. Read http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=13667.0
