I am trying to install CM 1.3.3 (Linux) and made my DB.

I get stopped at the install with an error that reads: "Admin username and password must only contain alphanumeric characters."

The problem is that when I make a DB and a user name it adds the ftp login name and an underscore to the front of the user name. If I remove the _ I get errors that CM cannot connect to the DB. I have tried every combination of usr name w/ and w/o the _

My hosting provider says: "The underscore is a requirement for all databases on our servers.  We also have many coppermine installs on our servers.  I would suggest that you contact the coppermine support folks and ask them what the problem is."

Any ideas how to get past this?

The admin user name and password is the user/pass combo to administrate CPG. This is something you create and is separate from the Database user/pass which in your case is the one that contains the underscore.

In other words, the admin user/pass let's you configure and administrate CPG and is the main login. This user/pass combo must only contain alpha-numeric characters. The database user/pass allows CPG to connect to the mySQL database.

The problem was me, I was trying to mimic the usr&pass of the ftp account to keep it simple and that is where the problem was.

So if you get this error make sure the COPPERMINE username and password is alphanumeric, and don't worry about the undercore that the db puts in!
