I myself am getting something very similar to this error.  When I go to upload a file, it says:
"1 uploads were successful.
Please click 'Continue' to add the files to albums.
"
on the following page, then allows me to give the new uploaded file a name, description, and keywords.

But as soon as I click on CONTINUE for it to finalize the process, I get PHP errors at the top of the screen saying:
"Warning: rename(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 32172 is not allowed to access /home/fourever/public_html/2005/albums/userpics/10002 owned by uid 99 in /home/fourever/public_html/2005/upload.php on line 2226"

Directly Below that it also states:
"The previous file could not be placed.

You have successfully placed all the files."

If I look in my FTP program, I have the TEMP files located as well as directories for different users, but it looks as if the TEMP files are not being moved to the proper location.  I have tried to create /TEMP folders under my root directory as well as my Coppermine directory with no luck...

Any assistance would be appreciated.
