Few basic questions about installing
« on: March 18, 2005, 06:32:33 pm »

Hi all!

Im new to coppermine but I have installed phpbb board and I thought this would be quite similar. Still I encountered some problems and have some questions:

I uploaded all extracted files to server (I have taken webspace from provider) and done all given tasks by tutorial (also set permissions correct). When I go to install.php and give required information, I get "mySQL error was: Access denied from user:......................... password yes."
In same space I have phpbb running perfectly so it should be compatible also for coppermine I think. I have triple checked passwords and usernames so no problem there.

Should "mySQL Host" be the same than in phpbb settings is "database server hostname / DNS "? I think so...
Well I also try to get some help from provider about correct settings.

After I get all this working, should I delete install.php file from server like in phpbb? What about writing permissions, those should be changed back or not?
Should there be some other tasks made after completing installation? (there was not so clear instructions in on-line manual about installation)

You can use the exact same settings in phpbb's config.php file.

You can delete install.php but it's not necessary because a lock file is created that makes it so someone can't run the installation again.

You do not need to change the settings afterward. Otherwise, it would say so, no?
