Coppermine IP table control
« on: January 30, 2005, 01:46:59 pm »

Hello guys,
i want to know if it's possible with coppermine to control IP table (text file) for votes and not via cookie or all two together. Because anyone can delete cookies and then it can vote for many times!

Thanks a lot

IP addresses can be easily spoofed too.  There's no way to stop people from cheating if they want to.

It is indeed a beautifull forum if you show some respect and except clear short answers that answer your question.

Kegobeer already said it, if people want to cheat they can't be stopped. Only way to completely stop it is to not allow any form ov voting.

thanks a lot for your esaustive answer!

After reading your question, "is it possible to do it?",  the answer from Gau Gau answered it to the point. How else do you answer a yes or no question?

All the people are expert here,uh?!

Yes we are  ;D

Rewind:

Hello guys,
¶i want to know if it's possible with coppermine to control IP table (text file) for votes and not via cookie or all two together and HOW to do that.¶ Because anyone can delete cookies and then it can vote for many times I think 2 systems control are better than one and it's more difficult to change IP addresses than delete the cookies!¶

Thanks a lot

It clearly answers the question you posted.

Means that coppermine does not have that out-of-the-box but it can be coded. And since that is not on the to-do list for obvious reasons you are better of either paying someone to do the coding for you or find someone who does it for free.
