Complete newbie needs help
« on: January 17, 2005, 04:47:40 pm »

Ok, I know this problem has come up for others but when I searched your database none of the threads I found on it had any answers, even the ones that people linked to after this question was asked.  It's possible I'm just blind but I spent about five hours last night trying to fix this so maybe not.  I'm hosted through yahoo with my own domain name and I can't seem to get this instaledl.  Every time I try, I get this message:

Quote
Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)

I know next to nothing about php, so I'm not even sure if I have the correct values entered, though I do have phpMyAdmin running and I'm fairly sure my site meets all the minimum requierments.

Any help would be great!

Do you mean the same user names and such? 'cause that's what I'm entering.  I have a database called db so I just entered "db" for database name and I left the table prefix at the defalt setting and I'm still getting the same error no matter what I enter.

Ok, I am seriously not competent enough to do this myself.  I'm hosted through yahoo but they give you a phpMyAdmin accound dealie so I suppose I'm the one who has to fix this but I don't know how.  I'll give someone access if they know how to fix it and repay them with webspace or something if they want, 'cause I don't know what to do.
