How to confirm intergation coppermine w/ SMF
« on: January 04, 2005, 02:58:34 pm »

I am able to see new groups I create in SMF in coppermine, but not vice versa. Also I don't see member created in coppermine in SMF. When I click on memberlist it redirects me to SMF and I only see those members created there

SMF has total control of users now, you can't use coppermine to create new users and usergroups.

What about the users that were created in cpg before intergration took place?
How come the don't show up in SMF member control?

They are out of the picture now, if you need them you need to convert them to smf users. And don't ask me how.

...that's the basic idea of integration/bridging: no more coppermine users, user management is handled by the bbs when the apps are bridged. This is in the docs as well...

If you are comfortable using phpmyadmin (or similar app) to manipulate the database, you can copy cpg users into SMF user table. I'm speaking theoretically since I don't have an SMF installation I can refer to.

1) backup cpg user table
2) change the cpg user table structure to match exactly the fields used in SMF. Add, delete columns as required.
3) export cpg user table
4) import cpg user table into smf user table (after backing up the smf table).

There are caveats. Make sure the user ID fields don't conflict. If smf uses MD5 passwords, you have to convert the cpg user's passwords to MD5.

Also, if the amount of users is small enough, you can manually enter the user data from cpg into smf users table.

No, I guess this will not work, as the structure differs. There's no conversion script available, and the method TranzNDance suggested won't work, so you should rather go for option 2:

, or even better: manually register your coppermine users on your smf board, then edit the reference to the changed user id's in the database accordingly. Not an easy task either (not recommended for newbies) - I suggest you just ask your coppermine users to re-register on your smf board.
