out-of-the-box: no.
If you need this hack, you can easily write the necessary code by adding some if/then switch to the comment section. Please share your hack if you come up with a solution.

cerntly i am a php beginner but i am lerning and not doin to bad in the near furure a hope i can do alot more to help coppermine

I did this before as part of a paid customisation, but I don't seem to have the files any more. You can add a switch based on user group in displayimage.php, simply wrapping the name with some html colour code.
