My Server-Info:

GD Support enabled
GD Version 1.6.2 or higher
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype
GIF Read Support enabled
GIF Create Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled

But gif isnīt supported!

How can it be???

Ok the is a bit misleading. AFAIK GD does not support GIF modification.

Here's a good read from the creator of GD: http://www.boutell.com/gd/faq.html

Pictures should really be in JPEG to begin with anyway.  :?

Perhaps you could switch to ImageMagick.
