Belated SMF integration
« on: November 24, 2004, 09:14:24 am »

Hello, thanks for Coppermine!  It's wonderful!

I have about 500 photos in my gallery but I want to integrate with SMF but I see in the smf.inc.php file it warns to not activate the bridge if I already have pictures.  I searched the forums for help or advice on this but found nothing.  Please advise how I can integrate Coppermine with SMF without loosing my photos, etc.

Oh, the DB is already integrated / shared between the SMF and Coppermine.

Thank you very much!

You will not lose your pictures at all.
Coppermine still uses its own database tables, except the user management ones, so what you will lose is the ownership of the pics and albums, if they were uploaded/created by anyone other than you.

This will cause problems if your users have personal albums, and your users pics will look as though they were uploaded by someone else.  This is especially important if your users have private albums, as they will not be able to see them, but someone else will.

The only way out of this if the above applies to you, is to modify one of the databases, to syncronise the users so that they have the same user id in both sets of tables(and change the picture/album tables accordingly).

Thanks very much for the feedback.   This is good news because I'm the only one with photos in the galleries!  Yay!!
