Uploading into categories

ok, color me stupid.  I have done this before but cannot get this to upload photos into the categories.  This is my first experience with coppermine and I'm sure I'm doing something extremely wrong here.  The photos will upload into the user gallery only.  I need to break these up into categories.

Any help would be appreciated!!

You upload into albums, not categories. Create albums in the categories and allow uploads to them.
