linking to a phpBB board
« on: October 08, 2004, 04:03:39 am »

Hello,

I would like to link my Gallery to my phpBB's user database. I looked in config.php and others files, but I find no mention of what db the gallery is using. I know which one it's using because I can get it to it through phpMyAdmin, but I don't see it referenced anywhere in the files.

Can PicturePro be set up to use another board's users table? I don't want my users to have to register or log in twice.

I am a newbie, so please be as specific as you can when you reply.

I thank you all for looking.

The database info for CPG is in include/config.inc.php.

You are asking a support question regarding another photo album app at a Coppermine Photo Gallery support forum?

The app in question says "powered by Coppermine" at the bottom.

Anyhow, the databse info found in include/config.inc.php is wider than I expected.

How can I tell the application to use the users table found in my phpBB? That is the only table I want it to use from another db.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by the database info being "wider."

Did you read the bridge instructions in the documentation?

What I mean is that if I rename the database in the config.inc.php file, now all the tables will be redirected, when the only thing I want to redirect is the code trying to reach the users table in the current db to my phpbb database.

I have not read the bridging section. I will do so now.

Oh, man. So I should have looked at the manual first. Bridging was what I was looking to do.

Mission accomplished? Not really. Now I have a new problem.

When I click Log In on my gallery, I get sent to my board, which is great. After I log in, however, my board shows that I have logged in, but my gallery does not recognize the login.

I am thinking something to do with cookies is to blame, but I don't know what.

Help please.

did you do a search already, this has been asked and answered a million times already. There are several settings that are related, so it's not that easy to walk you through it - you better just scan the bridging/integration board for your issue and try the suggested fixes. If you don't manage to fix things for you, reading some other threads will at least teach you what supporters expect you to post if you actually want help. In fact, they keep repeating the same mantra over and over. I won't tell you right now, please search and you'll know ;)

PicturePro is a version of coppermine supplied by netfirms under their own branding.

Oh, sorry for the confusion. :-[ I didn't realize there would be a commercial version of coppermine.
