Versioncheck showing weird results?
« on: September 14, 2004, 09:57:25 am »

I've run the versioncheck on my installation (http://cgi.martinhart.force9.co.uk/versioncheck.php) and although I'm running v1.3.2 and it confirms this it comes with a whole list of red and yellow file names that seem to be missing!  :o

The summary is shown below:

Total files/folders checked:  214
Mandatory files missing:  76
Optional files missing:  138
Files left over from outdated version:  0
Outdated file versions:  0

I had a copy of Coppermine v1.2.1 but completely removed this and then did a clean re-installation of v1.3.2 on my CGI server. The current version is stable and runs fine but I was a bit shocked to see so many files supposedly missing. When I check, these files seem to be present? What is the matter  ???

Cheers

Do you suggest downloading the latest version of versioncheck.php or just hacking my current one? if the latter, what's the hack?

This is a known bug that will not display correcly if you're on a subdomain or the webroot. Getthe most recent version of versioncheck.php, replace the one on your webserver with the new one and try using the additional checkbox "coppermine is installed in the webroot" that comes with the new version. If this doesn't help, it simply means you can not use versioncheck.php on your server (please report as well). The tool has been added to cpg1.3.2 only shortly before release, which makes it sort of "experimental", we didn't have the chance to check it on all server setups. If you did a fresh install anyway, it won't hurt, since versioncheck.php is basically meant for users upgrading from previous versions to make sure they have upgraded all files. If you're sure you did so, versioncheck won't give you an additional benefit anyway.

Uploaded the latest version of versioncheck.php and did as you suggested. All my files are now green and it reports the correct version number.

@GauGau - thanks for your help

This problem for me can now be closed... :)
