version checker
« on: September 02, 2015, 01:48:05 pm »

Hi

I updated my gallery.
I uploaded all files from the latest version, and copied anycontent.ini and config.ini files.

When I run a version checker, hundreds of files show the sign that they might be corrupted (or have been changed deliberately).

Is that normal ?
I downloaded some of them and compared them with the original one, and they seem exactely the same, except for the date (uploaded file has data of today, original file date of 13/08/2015).

Kind regards

This has already asked and answered several times. Short: this seems to happen while uploading with some ftp clients with certain settings. Usually everything's fine.

Thanks for your answer.

How can I upload in a different way, not to have this error ?

(sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am doing my very best as I only have a limited webdesign knowledge).

Honestly, I don't know. I always got that while uploading the Coppermine files with FileZilla and default settings. I never attempted to fix it.

Which FTP client do you use?

Filezilla.

But I see now that when I choose the option Transfer - Transfer type - Binary ... then everything is fine.

I am assuming you are transferring your files from a windows based pc to a Linux server. If that is the case what happens when you use ascii mode any CR (carriage return) characters at the end of lines will be stripped out. As a result the file sizes will end up slightly different and as a result the version checker sees the files as different as the files sizes will be different. This does not happen in binary mode.
