Embed images (upload from url)
« on: January 27, 2015, 02:01:05 pm »

Is it possible to embed images (upload from url)?
Many users prefer to upload from their website to advertise their website like they do on pinterest.

When image is clicked it takes to their website.

Can remote videos plugin be edited to do that?

Upload from url, not just from PC and when users clicks the image to go on the website that has that image.
Just like pinterest.com.

I want it this way because users mostly want to show the images from their website and then when other users clicks the image to go to their website.

Actually you're asking for several things:
1. Enter an URL and Coppermine adds that file to the gallery
2. When visitors click on the file in the gallery, they get redirected to the actual image location

This is not possible out of the box. Upload by URL has been dropped in cpg1.5.x (because of permanent misunderstanding of that feature) and redirecting when visiting the intermediate-sized page is also not possible without modification or a plugin.

Of course you could create a plugin which provides a new upload form where the user selects the album and adds the URL (similar to the simple upload form). Then, Coppermine needs to store the URL (additional to the stuff it always stores and does) and your plugin need to check on every intermediate-sized page load if an URL exists and then redirect.

I will tray it. Doesn't sounds difficult.
Thanks a lot.

Sorry, but I'm personally not interested in such a plugin and I've currently way too little spare time to create it (as you probably already noticed ;)).
