How to block an IP address

Hey there
Up until recently, I was allowing non-members to comment without needing to be checked... but since one page (just one) has started getting 'this pic so awesome. come look at my webpage' messages every day, i've had to change that... but because I don't want to stop everyone commenting just for one spammer, how can i block the ip address?

sorry... I'm a berk...
I thought where it said 'ban users' it meant that I could only ban members who had registered...
