Gallery Crashed
« on: May 04, 2010, 08:23:01 pm »

Hi,

I've had Version 1.4.10 for quite some time and never had any problems.....

I have it bridged with SMF which I have just upgraded to 2.0 rc3, I think having done this its caused the gallery to crash with the message:

"There was an error while processing the database query"

I'm unable to do anything with it.....Please could someone offer some advice? Is it the bridge that's failed? Can I upgrade to the new version of Coppermine as part of a resolution to my problem?

Thanks  ;D

Phill,

My apologies my url is http://www.murcia-golf.co.uk/gallery/index.php

I have done as you suggested and the gallery is now open.

What would you advise I do next? Will the bridge work again and is it worth me upgrading?

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

Your next step is to upgrade your current version from 1.4.10 to the current stable release (1.4.26).

As onthepike suggests, you need to upgrade. In fact, you must upgrade as a matter of urgency. There are a number of security fixes in the latest release and all those in between. You are risking loosing all your work if you do not upgrade.

Once you have done that we can look at your bridge issues.

Access Bridge Manager and reapply your bridge using the Simple Machines (SMF) 2.x select option.

I have it bridged with SMF which I have just upgraded to 2.0 rc3

What version of SMF did you upgrade from? If you upgraded SMF from their 1.x versions, be sure to modify your previous Bridge Manager setting to reflect the change from SMF 1.x to SMF 2.x.

Hi,

I upgraded from SMF 1.1.11 to 2.0 RC3.

When you say "be sure to modify your previous Bridge Manager setting to reflect the change from SMF 1.x to SMF 2.x." excuse my ignorance but where do I do that?

When I access my Coppermine Admin Tools - Bridge Manager, the only option seems to be "Enable integration/bridging with Simple Machines (SMF) 1.x"

Thanks...

Admin Tools -> Bridge Manager

Select the disable radio button, click "finish", then click "Start Bridging Wizard" (the same button will reflect this change). On the following page, select Simple Machines (SMF) 2.x then click "next". Supply the necessary configuration information until complete. Remember to re-enable the bridge on the last screen. That should do it.

Sorry, I didn't start the wizard. I have done so and all is good - thank you.

I like to look of your new release - 1.5.3 would there be any problems if I upgrade to it?

Glad to help.

There's always the potential for problems; I can't forecast whether or not you'll have any, however. Problems arise due to human error, data corruption, misconfiguration, requirement/other conflict or any combination of these. But if you download the package contents and read through the manual thoroughly, especially the sections dealing with upgrading and bridging, you shouldn't have any issues.

However, please note that (a) this forum has a strict "one topic per thread" policy, and (b) you are requested to "Resolve your threads" and mark them "Solved" upon issue resolution. So please do so.

If you update your CPG to 1.5x and run into any issues, please go ahead and post a new topic in the appropriate sub-category.

Thank You,

Maybe I will wait a while for the upgrade.

I think we can say my issue has been "Solved"

Best Regards
