Use Maintenance mode when upgrading?
« on: September 10, 2009, 06:42:25 am »

This may seem a stupid question but should I use maintenance mode when upgrading coppermine? Or is it not necessary?

It's not mandatory, but it can be beneficial. Namely, if you're updating, you should also be backing up. You don't want to have users or guests adding data to the database or modifying files while you're backing up. Think of it as "closing temporarily for inventory". It's a good idea to put your gallery into Maintenance Mode during updates.
