JUpload fails to load
« on: July 27, 2009, 12:55:27 pm »

Hello Etienne,

I have installed your JUpload plugin using the coppermine plugin manager. I also followed your instructions to do the setup for JUpload.

But I get consistently an error when trying to use the plugin:

Hi Etienne,

Not sure where the text comes from. I downloaded the plugin from here:

http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=53168.0;attach=22763

I have deleted all related files and removed the plugin from CPG.

I downloaded the plugin again from the above link and installe dit again using CPG.

The issue still remains but the log looks different:

Hi,

no worries. Enjoy your vacation. Some delay is not an issue for me.

But could you have a look at my problem after your return?

Matthias

Hi,

I fear my mind is still in vacation (but my body isn't !)...

Some questions:
1) Do you still have the next line in the console ?
JUpload v0.90 @ http://www.jupload.biz/demo/0.90/

2) Are you installing the plugin by FTP or by HTTP ?

3) Did you restart your browser, before testing the new version (almost necessary to clear the java cache) ?

1. I do not have the line in the console anymore.

2. I am using coppermine to find the file on my computer and install it from there -so HTTP.

3. I completely removed all settings and also tried another browser where I did the same. I also check with the computer of a friend. Result is always the same.

Hum hum,

To manage this case, I may have to add some check in the PHP file, about the current jupload installation.

- Which jupload version is it ?
- Can you install it by sending the files by ftp ?
- Do you have any proxy setting in your browser ?  (If ignored by Java, Java may not find the file containing the java classes)

BTW: an admin account on your side may help.

Hi,

- version is 3.6.2
- I could try to send it via FTP. Is there an explanation how to do that?
- no there are no proxy settings I am aware of

Sure, you can get an admin account. How can I give oyu the details? I do not want to post them here in the forum.

About FTP:

It may be due to a bad installation, during unzipping of files. Doing a FTP installation already corrected such troubles.

Now, after some googeling, I found one other error: It can happen when your web server customize the 404 HTTP error, and Java doesn't recognize it.

Actually, it may be due to:
1) The jar file not being found.
2) The java class loader trying another upload way. I'll have to investigate it.

HI Etienne,

I tried it now again with the FTP.

I deleted everything before I started. Tranferred the extracted files to the plugin folder and used cpg to install it.

The result is the same as before.

How can I provide oyu with the admin details?

Hum, hum,

If yes:
- Do you have special error pages on your web site ?  In case of a 404, is the 404 the actual status code returned by the server ?
(if you don't know, I can check on your server URL, without password)

A last set of questions (I don't really having other's password...):
Do you manage the apache (or other web server) yourself ?

If yes, can you send me the log (access and error) of your web server, for the period when the error occur.

Hi Etienne,

I am not sure about the error pages. The URL is www.matthiasgödecke.de (or if your browser does not support this character ö => www.xn--matthiasgdecke-3pb.de)

I do not manage the apache on my own. I have bought the service from a webhosting service called domaingo (www.domaingo.de).

Hi,

My opinion is that such a host name is non standard, and can generate troubles.

I just tried to simulate it, locally, with my hosts file. It doesn't work (I can't even see its home page).

Can you put a new entry in your hosts file (c:\windows\system32\etc\hosts on windows), with a 'standard name', for instance www.matthiasgodecke.de, and give it a try ?
I would not be surprised if the applet would load correctly, then.

Hi,

that could be an explanation.

I tried the hint with the hosts but that does not work. When I ping the adress I got the correct IP has defined in hosts, but the browser seems to call the DNS server from my router directly to get the correct IP. So it can not find the adress in hosts.

Do you have another idea. I have no chance to change the adress.

Hi,

I'm not sure of your answer. Did you write a line in your hosts file, like this one:

Code: [Select]
n.n.n.n  www.matthiasgodecke.de

And tried to access to your web site with http://www.matthiasgodecke.de URL ?
(you probably need to change your Coppermine configuration for this test, by putting this URL instead of www.matthiasgödecke.de).

Then, your computer won't attack the DNS, but will read IP for www.matthiasgodecke.de from your host file.

Hi,

yes, I created such a record in the hosts file I pinged the website before to find the correct IP).

Now I did the same again but this time with changing the coppermine configuration. But the result was the same.

Not quite if I did everything correct.
