Cant Configure gallery
« on: November 12, 2007, 07:27:53 pm »

I just installed Copppermine. Log in as admin and try and change the gallery under the config tab. When I click the "save new config" button I get a:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /coppermine/admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I have been able to make changes under all other tabs except this one. I have added categoreis and albums  with no problems but I cant make any of the important areas.

Incase its needed, heres a link to the gallery;  http://hot-rides.dodge-stealth.com/coppermine/index.php

Ask your host if they have any security patch installed and also check if you have any .htaccess file there

Talk to your host or the one who's administering your server if you're not sure what to do or for what to look in the htaccess (usually it's not the htaccess but the webserver's config file).

655 didnt work

tell me more about the config file. I use a hosting service but all they do is give me storage space and bandwitdh, I have to do everything else.

Talk to your host as suggested. The likely cause here is a security tool that your host may be using. The large number of input fields in the form on the admin page can trigger a false alarm if the threshold is set too low. Only your host can tell you if this is the case and only your host can adjust the settings.

Hot Rides failed to resolve this thread, although he reported on another open thread that he was able to solve this issue:
I fixed the afore mentioned problem now for help w/ the uploading issue.

For the benefit of others and for the sake of keeping this forum organized we expect thread starters to resolve their issues on the threads they started. Failing to do so results in supporters being reluctant to help with your issues. You (Hot Rides) should have resolved your thread here by posting what you did.
Marking this thread as "solved" anyway.

How do I resolve a thread? I see no links anywhere within the thread to do so.

You just post "I was able to solve this issue by doing this and that". In other words, you just tell us that the thread is resolved... ::). Sounds logical, doesn't it? Just some common sense required, no extra buttons needed.

well, Im just coming from experience of previous boards where the creator of the thread had the ability to modify the thread by closing it, deleting it, ect, ect. Im not use to being babbied around and having things done for me.

Technically, this would be possible. Feature has been abused in the past, that's why we turned it off.
Imo it's common sense to resolve threads. Not finding the proper button is a lame excuse.
