Separation of Categories Menu from Gallery Content
« on: March 29, 2007, 04:51:27 am »

I've just installed Coppermine and have noticed a very frustrating problem. In every single Theme, the Categories and Albums Menu is always fixed on top of the Random Image and New Images thumbnail galleries, and it doesn't even exist in the Most Viewed, Date Added, etc. galleries, or even in the Albums.  This creates very bulky and tacky-looking gallery pages that look like message boards and forums.  I think it would be a great idea to separate this menu from the gallery content, in order to create an entire website where the categories menu can stay on the left (or right) side of the page, and all the gallery content can reside in the middle, much like the gallery systems on e-onsoftware.com, Renderosity.com, and Zazzle.com, and even like the photo gallery software Gallery 2.  Are there any plans to make the category menu system more designer-friendly in this way?

Thanks!!!
